The countdown to Eminem’s arrival has begun. The rap icon is bringing his EMINEM RAPTURE 2014 Tour to the continent for his first live shows in Africa. Primedia and Dainty Group are proud to announce that American Rapper Action Bronson and South Africa’s own Jack Parow will be the supporting acts on the EMINEM RAPTURE 2014 Tour. The South African leg of the Tour will hit Cape Town Stadium on 26th February, 2014 and Ellis Park Stadium on 1st March, 2014.
ACTION BRONSON
A former chef, this Queens MC and former XXL Cover Freshman is known for his gritty style and slick rhymes. His latest EP Saab Stories debuted Top 10 in the US and solidified his position as one of the hottest rappers today. Born and raised in Flushing, Queens, Bronson wasn’t even ten when an illicit copy of the Wu-Tang Clan album 36 Chambers landed in the tape deck at a friend’s sleepover party. His life changed forever and soon he discovered another idol, Kool G Rap. Bronson later studied at the Art Institute of New York City’s culinary program and went on to join the restaurant business as a chef, but in 2009 he exited the kitchen and entered the studio. In 2011, he would release his debut album, Dr. Lecter. In 2012, the Bronson released Blue Chips, a groundbreaking collaborative album with Brooklyn-based producer Party Supplies, and the Alchemist-helmed mixtape Rare Chandeliers followed later in the year.
His 2013 EP Saaab Stories was produced by Harry Fraud and launched his major-label deal with Warner Bros. via the Vice imprint. In November, Bronson dropped the follow-up to his now classic Party Supplies mixtape, aptly entitled Blue Chips 2, to rave reviews. Bam Bam has recently wrapped a sold-out US tour in support of the project.
JACK PAROW
PAROW Dangerous Romantic Afrikaans Rapper
Twenty-eight years ago, Zan der Tyler was born in Parow, Cape Town. Today he is known as Jack Parow, original donker dodgy Afrikaans rapper. Contrary to popular belief, his wild-fire success did not happen overnight. Jack started out rapping with crews from the Cape Flats and has been at it for nine years.
He studied to be a mechanic, but had to take jobs like packing fish in Cape Town harbour and allocated graves for the Cemetery Division of the Cape Town municipality to support his rap habit. Performing only for a beer and pizza soon changed, when his collaboration with Die Heuwels Fantasties on the track, Die Vraagstuk, put him in the limelight.
It’s been almost two years since his breakthrough in 2009 and since Jack Parow has released his first self-titled full length album that struck gold within two weeks of its release and went platinum within a year; headlined at major festivals in South Africa; toured Europe and played before packed out shows there. His music video for the hit Cooler as Ekke has over 1 million views on YouTube. His songs are hits on national radio stations and he has been on prime TV shows and on covers and centre-folds of publications in South Africa and in Europe.
”…it is safe to say that he is one of the most popular artists in the country at the moment.” Rebecca Khan – Rapport
