Event to Celebrate the Grand Opening of Hard Rock Cafe Johannesburg
Johannesburg, South Africa, February 25, 2014 – The stage is set for what promises to be the party of the year as Hard Rock Cafe Johannesburg hosts the highly anticipated Grand Opening event in Mandela Square, Sandton.
On Saturday, March 8, 2014, Hard Rock officially celebrates the Grand Opening of its Johannesburg location with a free concert by South Africa’s reigning prince of rap, AKA and local rock legends, Prime Circle, Blues artist Albert Frost and popular rapper DA L.E.S. along with opening performances by Brent Harris and Thee Jam. A host of actors and performers dressed as iconic rock stars will also take the stage at Hard Rock Cafe Johannesburg to rock the crowds and provide guests with an unforgettable evening of celebration and song!
The legendary Rita Gilligan, or “lovely Rita” as she is known (so dubbed thanks to the popular Beatles track) has been working for the Hard Rockbrand for over 40 years.
This vivacious 73year old, has been an integral part of the Hard Rock Café team since the very firstHard Rock Café opened its doors in London on the 14th of June 1971! What an innings!
As the very first waitress to ever receive the now infamous Hard Rockpins, she still wears the same uniform of calf length dress, white ‘nurses shoe’s and a hat made from a linen napkin.
Rita has served some of the biggest names of our time and has represented Hard Rock Café as the brand ambassador from 1988.
Today she travels the globe to assist in training staff at newly launched venues and attending special events and grand openings.
The Hard Rock Café in Sandton Johannesburg will be hosting their grand opening event on the 8th March 2014 and Rita will be attending the festivities.
