Event to Celebrate the Grand Opening of Hard Rock Cafe Johannesburg  


 Johannesburg, South Africa, February 25, 2014 – The stage is set for what promises to be the party of the year as Hard Rock Cafe Johannesburg hosts the highly anticipated Grand Opening event in Mandela Square, Sandton. 


 On Saturday, March 8, 2014, Hard Rock officially celebrates the Grand Opening of its Johannesburg location with a free concert by South Africa’s reigning prince of rap, AKA and local rock legends, Prime Circle, Blues artist Albert Frost and popular rapper DA L.E.S. along with opening performances by Brent Harris and Thee Jam.  A host of actors and performers dressed as iconic rock stars will also take the stage at Hard Rock Cafe Johannesburg to rock the crowds and provide guests with an unforgettable evening of celebration and song!



 True to Hard Rock’s “Love All – Serve All” motto, the free concert event will benefit the Nelson Mandela Children’s Hospital, a state-of-the-art specialist pediatric academic and tertiary referral hospital providing child-centered, best-quality medical services to the children of Southern Africa, irrespective of their social and economic status.  Fans can secure their spot at this one-of-a-kind event by “liking” Hard Rock Cafe Johannesburg’s Facebook page (www.facebook.com/HRCJohannesburg) and entering their contact details on the Grand Opening Ticket page https://www.facebook.com/HRCJohannesburg/app_277112852299042.   Once details are submitted online, fans will receive a unique bar-coded ticket confirming their spot, with a guest, to the exciting Grand Opening event. Spots are limited, as a maximum 1,000 people will be admitted into the concert event. In addition, concert guests wearing Hard Rock Cafe Johannesburg merchandise will be randomly selected from the crowd and offered VIP Rock Star tickets to the exclusive after party. 


 To win Rock Star tickets to the exclusive VIP after-party at the cafe following the concert, Hard Rock Cafe Johannesburg encourages members of the public to take pictures of themselves wearing Hard Rock Cafe Johannesburg T-shirts or merchandise and capturing the moment while enjoying a meal at Hard Rock Cafe. About Nelson Mandela Children’s Hospital


The Nelson Mandela Children’s Hospital is a project initiated by the Nelson Mandela Children’s Fund. Graça Machel is the chairperson of the Nelson Mandela Children’s Hospital Trust and Sibongile Mkhabela its CEO.The 200-bed specialised paediatric hospital is located in Johannesburg. The site was donated by Wits University at a site dedication ceremony attended by Nelson Mandela in 2009. The goal is to admit the first patient in the last quarter of 2015 and provide world-class specialised paediatric care to Southern Africa’s children, irrespective of their social and economic status. The National Health Department has committed to provide core operations costs of the hospital.
