In keeping with the traditions of the Emerald Isle, authentic Irish entertainment has been lined up for the entire festival – with a South African twist in the form of everyone’s favourite cousin, Barry Hilton. Barry will be hosting the festival on Sunday the 16^th of March, and his unique brand of cheeky comedy will keep crowds roaring with laughter. Another hilarious comedian and MC who will be getting everyone giggling is Tony D King, a veteran comedian who has performed across South Africa. Another lekker local personality, Jonathan of Radio Raps social media fame, will be hosting the day on Saturday the 15^th.

No Irish Festival would be complete without music, and festival goers will be able to enjoy Irish Folk Music by the Danny Boys, all the way from Belfast in Ireland. The lead singer and guitarist is Bud Frazer and he will be joined on stage by Banjo George McCollough.

They will play the old Irish favourites as well as some of their own recordings, and the music will range from toe-tapping tunes to dance to, to the nostalgic ballads of Ireland. Also expect catchy pub songs, popular ‘newies’ and the occasional Irish jig from South Africa’s much loved Durban-based Irish group, the Blarney Brothers. Celebrating 40 years on the SA music scene, the three band members are all Irish-born and have a dedicated fan following. They agree that they are up for a party and look forward to getting the crowds on their feet.

Other highlights at the Festival include the fabulous River Dancers, Irish Dancers with infectious dance moves; screenings of the Super Rugby games on the big screen on Saturday the 15^th of March; and competitions for the best dressed – so entrants need to bring their biggest and brightest green gear to win some fabulous prizes. The three day Luck of the Irish Festival will be a whirl of Irish escapades and Celtic fun, and is definitely the place to be between the 14^th and 16^th of March 2014.
